Once upon a time, not so very long ago, scientists put fleas in a jar. Fleas are very jumpy. They can jump eight feet high and eight feet forward. Scientists put the lid on the jar, and, eventually, the fleas stopped jumping.


Then, the scientists took the lid off the jar. The fleas would not jump farther than where the lid used to be, because they BELIEVED it was still there. So even though they could have jumped out of the jar, they didn’t because of what they believed would happen if they jumped higher than the lid.


As humans, we do this. What metaphoric lid have you put on your dreams that keep you from jumping because you BELIEVE it’s there?


You May Bend


You Will Not Break!


All of us go through challenging times in our lives. Storms may come our way; and at times, we may feel like  we are being tossed “to and fro,”and bent over by the strong winds we encounter. Please remember, no matter the challenge you are encountering, it WILL NOT defeat you.


Be like the Palm Tree.


 An interesting fact about the palm tree is when it is bent over by strong winds in a hurricane, research shows that the extreme stretching is actually strengthening its root system and providing the palm tree new opportunities for growth. In fact, after the storm, when the palm tree straightens back up, it is actually stronger than it was before.


In your life, whenever you face a storm and go through difficult times, after the storm subsides and you straighten back up; you are not the same. You are stronger, healthier, wiser, and ready for the new growth. Your roots are going to be stronger. You are not only going to be standing; you will be standing stronger than you were before; shining like the sun!





Do you have a goal, dream, or desire that you have put on the backburner, and now it is barely a burning ember? You may think, “I have let it go by the wayside too long,” or “It is too hard,” or “I have had too many tough breaks, surely it will never come to pass”!


NOW is the time to fan that ember back to a burning flame. NOW is the time to reignite that goal, dream, or desire. It is calling to you because you were meant to achieve it. Do not neglect this calling. Commit yourself anew to achieving that dream and take small simple steps each day to make that dream a reality. Little by little; a little becomes alot and before you know it you are there!


Do not doubt that you will be successful. Believe in Yourself! When you believe and begin to take small action steps towards it, you will see it. You will notice that when you start pursuing your dreams again, your life wakes up and suddenly everything has meaning. So, be fearless in what sets your soul on fire.


Life will only change when you are more committed to your dreams than you are to your comfort zone! This week I “Double Dog Dare You” to chase those dreams and make them your reality. Live the life you imagine. The only thing stopping you is YOU!


Today, in America, we celebrate Independence Day; a day which commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Our country became independent, and we achieved our freedom – politically and nationally; truly something to be grateful for as we enjoy all the opportunities and liberties that our independence has provided.


I want to bring this notion of freedom and independence down several notches to self; and ask you to look inward. Is there anything today that you are struggling with that is holding you back from living your best life? Are there any thoughts or self-limiting beliefs you are playing in your mind that are holding you captive?


Every one of us is afflicted with doubt, fear, and beliefs that limit our achievement and forward movement; but each of us has the power within to change our thinking.  Eradicate your inner-critic and do not let those voices control your destiny.


I challenge you this week to pick one negative thought or self-limiting belief you hold about yourself or your capabilities and change it to a positive, limitless belief. Write the new belief on a post it note, state it aloud. Choose Freedom! Free yourself form the bondage of a self-limiting belief that is exerting control over your life and let it go.


This new approach will be the start of something magical and powerful. I guarantee it.

Take a moment to reflect. Think about how you interacted with others this past week. Did you show another human being an act of kindness? I am most certain that none of you made it through this past week without making a difference in someone else’s life through some kindness you showed them.  These acts of kindness can show up as providing encouragement to someone who may seem a little down, a simple call to a friend or family member to see how they are doing, giving the “right of way” in traffic to let a stranger merge, opening a door, etc.  To you, these kindnesses may seem like “no big deal”, but to the person receiving them; it just may be the little miracle they needed to change the trajectory of their day and give them a positive lift.]


It is important to remember that “no person is an island”. We are all social beings; we need each other. Connecting with each other is as important as the air we breathe. Just like others have provided you a lift in your day through some kindness they’ve bestowed on you; you too provide that lift to others. Your actions and presence many times are the little miracle they need at just the right time to lift them up. Know that you may be the someone, someone else needs at any given moment.


Be aware of the people in your life. They are not there by accident. Take time to notice when they need a little miracle (kindness) that would give them a lift. You are full of all kinds of miracles you can provide because you have unique gifts to share, understanding you can give and caring you can show.


On a scale of 1 to 10, how patient are you?


“Patience is a virtue” is a saying that you’ve probably heard or even said, right? But, as the pace of the world gets faster and faster, it can be hard to adhere to these words of wisdom. Speed is something that has been preached as a “marker of success” … fastest internet speeds, fastest data, one stop shopping, next day delivery, etc., etc. This pace can seem to make the idea of patience counterintuitive. 


Patience is defined as "the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset.” Wouldn’t the world be a better place if we all practiced a little more patience? Patience is a skill that needs practice and sharpening. Practicing patience with yourself, others, and life in general can reduce stress and frustrations, allowing you to let go of trying to control the circumstances that are outside of your power.


So, how do you get started incorporating patience as a habit in your life? Here are a few tips to help you be more patient each day:

Identify your triggers. What are some situations that consistently test your patience? By simply identifying them as triggering events, you are gaining back your power over them.Realize the circumstances are causing a fight reaction in your brain and practice emotional regulation.


Reframe the experience. In addition to the emotional response (triggers), there are conscious beliefs and values associated with impatience, too. When a situation that tests your patience arises, think about the situation differently. Instead of asking yourself why is this happening to me, ask why is this happening for me? (For example, you may feel frustrated and disrespected if you have an appointment and the  person is 15 minutes late. What do you do?  Reframe it and switch roles. Think about a time when you have been running behind and others practiced patience and understanding with you.)


Practice makes progress. Make patience a habit that you practice on a daily basis.The results will not happen overnight, and I assure you that you may still lose your cool at times, but the more you practice, the more progress you will make incorporating the new skill.

 Happiness is a Choice

So is Stress.

Time to Choose.


April is “Stress Awareness” month; and April 16 is Stress Awareness Day. The purpose behind Stress Awareness Month is to increase your awareness of stress and the impact that chronic stress can have on your overall health.


Let this reminder call you to reflect on the level of stress in your life. Listen to the cues/clues that your body is giving you. Slow down, be present, and take a breath. Identify the triggers that may cause you stress and choose to actively  incorporate some small simple steps into your life that contribute to your healthy mind, body, and soul.


So, what can you do to combat and alleviate stress in your life? Here are some ideas:


1. Practice Gratitude – gratitude is a powerful force that can help expand your happiness, improve your health, and help you cope with stress. Each morning, choose three things for which you are grateful. Write them down. Keep them handy. This will have a profound impact on how you experience and react to whatever life brings your way!


2. Find Some Stillness Every Day – whether you are meditating, breathing, or just taking a few minutes for quiet – during this quiet time your body releases the effects of “fight or flight” and reverses the effect.


3. Smile – research shows that even a phony smile can help you handle stress. There is a mind-body connection, (your neurology and physiology are connected). So, head up; shoulders back, chin up and show your pearly whites! 😊


4. Get Some Exercise – make sure you move your body every day doing something you enjoy. If you can get outside and soak up some Vitamin D – even better!


This week step back, de-stress, and take your life back. Implement a new practice that brings you a sense of calm and joy. Each day is a new beginning to set a new path.


Remember this quote from Robert Eliot, “Rule number 1: Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff and Rule number 2: It is all Small Stuff.”

In my personal reflection this morning I came across The Optimist’s Creed (Christian Larson 1874 – 1954).  As I read and reflected, I was reminded of the principle, “Mindset Matters”. You see, we are all like giant magnets and our experiences (our lives) are impacted by our thoughts and words as they often guide our actions and the results we achieve.


Today, I want to share The Optimist’s Creed with you. Read it; reflect on it. Let the words wash over your heart, mind, and soul. I promise it will speak to you and shine a love light on those areas you may want to focus. May this be a blessing to you and all those with whom you come in contact. 😊

Today is Valentine’s Day and most often when we think about Valentine’s Day, we focus outward. While it is important to show those around you the love you have for them, it is equally important (if not more important) to ensure you cultivate feelings and actions of love and support for yourself. To love and connect with others, you first need to love and connect with self. Only when you are truly aligned with your beautiful and unique spirt, can you completely and honestly give and receive real love.


How do you begin to love yourself?


 Following are a few things you can do immediately to show yourself unconditional love and respect:


  • Mind your inner voice- Be aware and conscious of how you treat yourself in your own mind. Pay attention to your self-talk and how it makes you feel. Discard demeaning thoughts and direct your mind and actions to positive behaviors.

  • Clear your mind – Observe and understand your current beliefs, values, and the real motivations behind them. If your beliefs and values are not serving your highest good, question why you are holding onto them. Change those that do not serve you. Remember – when you change your mind; you change your world.

  • Invest time in good self-care – Nourish yourself daily with healthy activities, good nutrition, exercise, proper sleep, and healthy social interaction.

  • Set boundaries and protect yourself – Identify what is and what is not good for you. Gain clarity on what you will and will not accept in your life. Live with intention and purpose.

  • Be gentle, kind and patient with yourself – Give yourself grace as you learn new ways of being and loving yourself. Treat yourself as you would treat anyone you really love.


Loving yourself is powerful. When you love yourself, you fill up your cup and you have more than enough to give love to others!

Do you consider yourself curious? Do you look at life through the lens of possibility?


What if you “dialed up” your creativity, curiosity, joy and imagination as you show up in the world each day?


Attempt to clothe yourself in this spirit. As you do, your world; your life, will look and feel very different. You will begin to see it through a lens of potential and possibility.  Even when things are tough, don’t give up (don’t look at your feet); look up at the stars!


This world is so big. Life is so GRAND. There is so much to experience. Remember to always look up and “Reach for the Stars!”


 Faith means having confidence in something that you cannot see.


Every single day, things happen around us and for us that we can’t explain or know how it happens. Yet we trust it. We trust that a small device in our hands can connect us to anyone in the world. We trust that when we go to sleep, the sun will rise the next day. There is more happening for us than our senses can detect, or our minds can know. Living would be impossible without some basic trust in life.


How can we trust in something we can’t define, see, or understand? Faith. Just because we can’t see or feel our thoughts, doesn’t mean they aren’t real. Just because we can’t see or understand our creativity, doesn’t mean it’s not real. Faith is how we explain what is felt in our intuition and our hearts but may not make logical sense to our minds. Faith in something bigger than ourselves that helps us through rough times, gives us a sense of meaning, and reminds us we aren’t alone.


You can have faith based on experience and understanding. You’ve been doing it your whole life. Start today by having faith in yourself, your experiences, and inner wisdom. Continue to put one foot in front of the other. Create consciously. Live deliberately. You will succeed.

Infinite Possibilities - The art of changing your life


What is the content of your internal dialogue?

 What type of affirmations are you telling yourself? Are they positive or negative?


Everything you think and say is an affirmation. All of your internal dialogue is really a stream of affirmations. You are using affirmations right now whether you realize it or not. With every thought you think and word you speak you are affirming and creating your life experiences.


You have 60,000 – 80,000 thoughts a day and research states that about 80% are negative. So, you can see that much of what you normally think and say is negative. Thinking those types of thoughts  certainly will not create good experiences and outcomes because your inner thoughts create your outer reality.


So, does that mean you are doomed and there is nothing you can do about that? Absolutely Not! You have the power to change this; you just need to retrain your thinking and speaking into positive patterns. Choosing to do this will make the difference in the kind of life you will create.


Thinking and speaking positive affirmations open the door and can be a beginning point of change. Just this shift alone will let your subconscious mind know that you are taking responsibility and there is something you can do to change.


Start today doing positive affirmations, which is really consciously choosing words that will either help eliminate something from your life or create something new in your life. People throughout the world are just beginning to learn that their thoughts create their experiences.


Today is the day to wake up and begin to consciously create your life in a way that pleases and supports you.


Several affirmations you can begin use right now are:

All is well. Everything is working out for my highest good.

Out of this situation, only good will come.

I can feel good about myself; I can make positive changes in my life.

I am totally adequate for all situations.


Free yourself from negative self-talk. Start doing affirmations today. You will be so pleased, and your entire world will change for the better.

Every morning, on one of my television screens, I play Music Soundscapes (Xfinity Channel 443). This particular channel plays soothing music, and the screen rotates through many beautiful pictures and quotes. It fills my living space with a feeling of calm, peace, and joy.


Yesterday  morning as I was walking through my living room, I was compelled to stop and notice the picture and the quote. The picture was of beautiful sunflowers (my sister Voni, who passed some years ago, favorite flower) and the quote was the one noted above, “only the present moment contains life”. I knew there was a message in this for me.


How many of you spend much of your day with your thoughts and mind in the past, or contemplating the future? When we do this, we can find ourselves sad, anxious, or not aware of the gifts that life has for us in the present.


I have noticed for myself, that when my mind begins to race either backward (the past) or forward (the future), I find myself in anxious and worry. This is  a cue for me to come back to present where LIFE IS HAPPENING, IN THE HERE AND NOW.


I want to share with you a technique I use and mantra that I say, that brings me back to present and calms any anxiety that is within me.


First, I breathe in and out slowly a couple of times (often I place my left hand on my heart and my right hand on my stomach),


Next, I say:

I Am the Keeper of My Mind and My Body.

Where There is Love.

Fear is a Stranger.

Love is Here in Me.

All is Well in My World.


This does the trick for me bringing me to the Here and Now and reminding me that everything is ok 😊


Try it. I guarantee you – it will make a difference in your mind and body and the experience of your present moment!

Every day is filled with thousands of tiny miracles. Notice them! Take a minute right now to think about and be thankful for all of the gifts in your life. Say or Shout Out a heartfelt, “Thank You!” Believe in the goodness of your life. Believe in the power of YOU. 
Today is a gift; that is why it is called the “present”.

Remember – you are unique and born for a specific purpose. Embrace life. Take risks. Even when you face a challenge; move forward. Courageously moving forward in the face of setbacks helps you to become more resilient.


Know that you truly have distinct contributions to make while you are on this earth. You have many gifts to offer. Making the choice to be who you are, being open to connections with others and sharing the gifts you possess makes a significant difference in the world.


Discover your purpose. Live your purpose. Share your gifts.

Each day is a new beginning with unlimited possibilities. The past is over and done. You can make a fresh start and become a new creature – the one you were meant to be.


Enjoy planting your new garden of opportunity and growth. Be receptive to unforeseen possibilities and remember to be ready at any moment to give up what you are for what you may become.


Give up what is for what may be. What new adventures will you be open to this week?


“If You Fight for Your Limitations; You Get to Keep Them.”

We think approximately 60,000 – 80,000 thoughts per day. Unfortunately, about 80% of them are negative.  How often do you truly stop and listen to what you are saying to yourself? Are you aware of the self-limiting beliefs that your inner voice repeats over and over to you?


Do you ever hear, “I am not able to achieve that…”, “I am not talented enough to do that…”,  “Good things never come my way…”, and so on and so on…  If you continue to BELIEVE those limiting thoughts, you get to keep them! Is that what you want? I didn’t think so.


Here is the Good News, YOU can do something about it.



Buddha said, “what you think, you become”. What you believe becomes true for you. I want you to stop those negative, self-limiting thoughts in their tracks and replace them with positive, affirmative thoughts and limitless beliefs.

Here is an exercise you can incorporate into your arsenal and make it a healthy mind habit.


 Step One – Awareness:

The minute you hear (are aware of) that inner critic serving up something negative, critical, self-limiting; I want you to press the volume control immediately. TURN DOWN THE VOLUME so that voice completely fades out. You hear it NO MORE.


Make this FUN – use your hand(s) and act as if you are physically turning down the volume control when the inner critic shows up. This is a great way to install this habit.


Step Two- Visualize (Sight & Sound):

First, mentally create an image of yourself that is confident, looking you straight in the eye. When you look into your eyes of this image, this image does not have that critical voice. This image of you is saying, “I feel good about myself”, “I feel safe”, “I am talented and capable”. You choose the statements that will serve your highest good.


Next, these affirmations do not go directly into your head, but they surround your head, filling up the space around you. Hear these affirmations sort of ringing around your head.  Like a bell upside down around your head ringing out your statements so that you are hearing them envelop the space around you,  “I am capable, I feel good about myself, I am safe, I am secure.” 


This image with sight and sounds is the future you; the you that no longer has the critical voice in your head.


Step Three – Releasing the Old Image and Installing the New Image:

Finally, hear the sound of the surf on the ocean rolling into shore. The surf washes away the critical voices; far away out into the ocean. You are left with the positive image of you affirming the LIMITLESS YOU. The YOU who is secure, talented, capable, loving and deserving of all good!


Are you willing to try it? It is simple, easy and a sure-fire way to cleanse your mind of your inner critic and infuse positive voices and limitless beliefs about who you really are! 


Every time you hear the inner critic, do this exercise. Your inner critic is no longer in charge; your inner cheerleader is!! 


Remember, the most powerful words in the Universe are the ones you say to yourself!


“Ego says, once everything falls into place, I will feel peace. Spirit says, find your peace, then everything will fall into place,” (Marianne Williamson)


How many of you feel as though you are on this endless journey of “searching”; whether it be a personal goal, a professional goal, being connected to others, the meaning of life, etc., and I could go on and on. Often, we exhaust ourselves through our “searching”, and what we are searching for seems to elude us. Yet, we continue to search and search seemingly desperate to be anywhere else but where we are.


I am not saying that the desire to seek, search and grow is wrong, because that is part of your life’s journey and an important part of your “being”, your “soul”. However, if you are “pushing so hard” for the next thing, trying to “make it happen” at all cost, keeping yourself so “busy” and  never taking the time to understand and appreciate who you are, where you are, and why you are at this juncture, you will miss a critical part of your life lesson and your journey.


To find your path, you must first find yourself and find your peace. Just as the quote says, find peace and then, your insights, enlightened thoughts and path will illuminate before you. Things will fall into place. Know that what you are seeking is also seeking you. Give yourself the opportunity to find it. Quit pushing so hard. Quit pushing the river. Realize that it does flow itself and when you become quiet, find peace of mind, things that you were blind to before will become clear. Your life lessons, insight and growth will find you.


Not only does the earth go through the process of reawakening from her slumber and blossoming into new life, you can too 😊!  Often, when we think of “spring cleaning”  we place our focus outward, but spring cleaning is not just about sorting through things and getting rid of clutter, outwardly; it is time to shift those efforts inward to your heart, mind, spirt and soul.


Let’s approach this new season with a mindset of opportunity and growth. Get started today on your “internal spring cleaning” journey.  Take stock of who you are and who you want to be; then, write your new story.


Your time is NOW! Visualize yourself achieving your “new story”, take steps each day in that direction. Plant the seeds, water them and they will grow. Daily, speak “as if” you have achieved your dream and are already living the life you have imagined!

Mastering the art of change is essential to life. Change is happening all around you, moment by moment. In fact, one of the only constants in life is change. Life is fluid; so, you must learn to be fluid with life.


One of the keys to living a full life depends upon how you view the world. The lens through which you view the world shapes your reality. You can choose how you view the world and how you respond and react to what happens to you each moment throughout the day.


How do you choose to view the world and respond to life’s situations?


 No matter what life sends your way, know that you are in control of your feelings and responses. Your thoughts are often responsible for dictating how you feel and if you learn to manage your thoughts, in turn you can also learn how to manage your feelings. You can manage your thoughts by allowing yourself to recognize them and then encouraging yourself to let go of those that are not useful.


A mantra that has helped me manage my thoughts and feelings when life feels out of control is:


“I have control over how I feel, and I choose to feel at peace”


Try it!  Recite this mantra aloud whenever things feel overwhelming. This mantra can be immensely powerful.  It helps to remind you that although you might not be in control over everything in life, you are in control of how you feel and respond to life’s situations. Mindset matters!

Choose to live a life of peace each day, and each moment. It is critical for your well-being. You must consciously and intentionally decide to protect your peace every single day.


Life will throw all kinds of situations and potential challenges your way. Today, there are so many challenges we are experiencing that it is easy to lose a sense of calm and peace. Is it possible to have joy, peace, and calm amidst all going on in the world today? Absolutely!


You can make a choice each morning how you want to show up and how you want to arm yourself for life’s ups and downs. The intentional actions you choose to create in your life to begin each day will build the bedrock and foundation that will be a key factor to support your ability to remain calm, present, and peaceful no matter what life presents.


How will you consciously choose to start your day each morning when your eyes open? It can be any ritual or intentional activity that will help anchor and solidify you. Will it be a prayer, meditation, a mantra, an affirmation, exercise, etc.? You choose what works for you. Make it simple so that you will make it a habit!


Life is uncertain and you are bound to experience challenges. Taking the time to arm yourself to deal with these challenges and whatever winds of change come your way will make all the difference. Protect your peace and face whatever is thrown at you in a way that helps you think broadly and see opportunities and solutions even during stress-filled times.


Arm yourself each day through your intentional activity to stand firm, be calm, and exude peace even when challenges are encroaching. Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.


“Peace – it does not mean to be in a place where there is no trouble, noise or hard work; it means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.”


Instincts and hunches come from our higher spiritual selves.


Have you ever had a gut feeling about someone or something?

Followed your heart instead of your head?

Had a dream or a strong premonition that later happened?


We all have a connection to a “higher self” with inner senses that provide insights, guidance, and information originating from outside our normal awareness. Some call this our instinct, intuition, inner wisdom, or “gut” feeling. These instincts reveal the truth about our life and experiences. Trust yourself. Divine wisdom lies within.

Have you ever experienced times in your life when it feels like you are re-living the same unresourceful choices and outcomes? You feel like the main character in the movie, “Ground Hogs Day?”


Do not despair. It happens to everyone. It is in those times you need to slow down, reflect, and ask yourself, “Why is this happening FOR me?” “What life lesson do I need to learn so that I can get the lesson and move on?”


In life, making a mistake is natural; that is how we learn. The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing. This lesson is depicted beautifully below in the poem by Portia Nelson.

Did You Know That You Are a Masterpiece?


You are created in the image of (Universe, Source, God, Allah, etc.), whatever name you choose to use for your Higher Power. Do you know what that means? It means that you have the atoms, molecules, particles of Divine Intelligence within you! You are a Wonder… How cool is that?!?!


My question to you is, What cloak are you putting on each day? Is it the cloak of Winner, Victor, Achiever? If not, what cloak are you putting on? Your thoughts become things and what you think about you bring about.


My recommendation for you is, Live Your Birthright! Live Your Soul’s Purpose. You have special talents and a special way that is uniquely you. You make a difference to and in the world every day. Reach out and touch someone every day, (friends, families, even strangers). When you share your unique gifts with the world, you not only raise the vibration of the whole planet, but you also raise your vibration as well!


You are magnificent. You matter. You have a unique role to play to make the world a better place. Isn’t the world we live in cool? There are adventures that await us every single day if we open our mind, heart, and eyes to all the possibilities around us!


Go out there and be a difference maker because what you do every day does make a difference. The only thing you must decide is, “What kind of difference do I want to make?”


Where Your Attention Goes, Your Energy Flows


Think about it. If, when you wake up in the morning, you immediately begin thinking about all the things you must do, places you need to go, people you need to see, where is your energy focused? It is flowing away from you and is only concerned with your outer reality.


If you focus most of your energy on your outer reality, how much energy do you have left to focus on your inner world of thoughts and feelings to create new outcomes, a new reality, to write your future story?


When we focus all our attention solely on our outer reality, we can feel like we are a hamster running in a wheel; we have no choices, feeling like we are boxed in. We can begin to feel like we are victims of our life instead of who we are really meant to be, the Creators of our life! Only you have the power to make the shift and take an active role in Creating the Life of Your Dreams! Awareness is KEY!


Reflection Activity: Where Your Attention Goes, Your Mind Flows Exercise

  • Make a list of things you place your attention on every day.


  • What areas of your life feel stagnant? That provides you a clue to where you are divesting your energy.


  • Now, you have a choice. Do you want to reignite that area of your life?


  • If YES, then place your attention there. Be clear on what you want that area of your life to be like and place your energy toward that future, combined with the emotion that you would experience “as if” that future was realized. See what wonderful outcomes you achieve!


Life is about management of energy. Where you place your attention is where you will place your energy and that is what you will experience.


To become the person that you aspire to be requires you to stop being the old self. Create your future from your future, not from your past!

Change, growth, and transition are always around you; sometimes subtle and at other times more obvious. Change can be liberating and exciting; but, change can also be difficult, chaotic and nerve-wracking. When you are experiencing change in your life, many times it can be accompanied by a period of transition, or “in-between”, when it feels as though you are in a state of limbo. The in-between tends to be a bit uncomfortable, uncertain, and difficult, but it is a necessary piece to get you from one chapter in life to the next.


Transformations, big and small, are what keeps life interesting. A life void of change would be a very dull one. Embrace it. You are creating new memories, making new friends, growing your mind, body and spirit, and becoming a fuller version of YOU!

Today, I am telling you to own your PHENOMENAL-NESS! Give yourself permission to live the life of your dreams. The thoughts you think literally become the things and events of  your life.


What do you want? Your dreams and desires are windows into the future of what could be. Honor them. You are not on this earth to survive; you are here to thrive.


What stirs your heart? Write down your dreams and desires. Pursue your dream by taking action, even if  only tiny baby steps forward.


Believe it.

 Move Toward It

And You will see it.


Often, the goals we create seem to be standard, practical, or safe. All of us do this; but there is a high probability that deep down you have some secret dream or desire in your heart that you do not mention or talk about because you might think, “that is silly” or “that will never happen” or “I won’t be able to achieve that” … and so on. Why do we say this to ourselves? Maybe, we should be a bit bolder. What if you decided to start constructing your possibilities this week?


This week take time to create a dreams list. These might be things that you have in your heart to achieve but do not believe can happen. Write them down. Don’t stop there. While you are in process of writing down these ideas, other ideas may pop into your consciousness. Write those down too. This exercise can be fun and will put a smile on your face😊. Doing this exercise will also begin to shift your brain into a space of possibility and positivity. True brainstorming!


When you are done, take one of them and write it on another piece of paper.  You may also want to create a plan; but, if you choose not to create a plan right now, just write the desire on the piece of paper. Keep it in front of you (in your notebook, journal, bedside table, etc.); somewhere you will be reminded of this dream. Do with it what you will, but do not let your dreams, passions, desires, big hairy audacious goals (BHAG’s) die!


Your dreams will only be impossible if you create that mindset construct. So, create a different construct.

Think back. Reflect.  When you were a child, I bet you engaged with the world totally different than the way you do now. Each day was full of possibility. The world was your playground. Curiosity was probably an adjective that described how you explored each moment of each day. Often, you more than likely, engaged with others with innocence, love, laughter, caring and joy.


It is fascinating to watch how children interact with the world and how they engage in life. The beautiful lesson here is that you too can interact with the world with a fresh, childlike perspective each day. Life is not a “spectator sport”. Engage! When you see the world with childlike eyes, it provides new perspectives and will liven up your day.  


Here are just a few of the benefits you can experience when you decide to see life with childlike wonder:


  • Each day is new, full of possibilities and a learning experience

  • Your imagination is limitless  

  • You think positively and you can do or be anything 

  • Everyone is a possible friend,

  • You do things, “just because”

  • You are not constantly worried about what other people are thinking…


What do you think? Don’t these attributes seem like they would set you free? Here is a challenge for you. This week make a pact with yourself to look at life with a childlike perspective. Also, try to rid yourself a bit from the “ties of technology” and embrace the experience of engaging in life with all your senses. Imagine how “freeing” this could feel.  Just try it. I think you will be glad you did 😊!


Do you leave every environment you go into better than you found it?


You are responsible for the energy you put out into the world. Every person and situation you encounter each day, provides you the opportunity to make the world a better place.


Take time to show people you care through a smile, a kind word, a random act of kindness.  Everyday actions matter and may be just what someone needs to brighten their day and make a significant difference in their life.  What are the deposits you are making into the lives of everyone you meet each day?


Be the one who nurtures and cares. Be the one who looks for the best in people. Help others; make a difference in their lives; give more than you get. Be an encourager of potential. Every time you put something positive out into the Universe, you change and the world changes. Your kindness will invite miracles to show up, not just in your world - the whole world.


The greatest gift you will give to the world is your commitment to leave what you found in better condition than the way you found it. Leave a single light in a place where there was once darkness so those coming behind you will see farther and begin where you left off.


You have the power each day to leave all those you meet better off than when you found them. Are you willing to commit to this noble endeavor today?

The thoughts you think and the words you speak create your experiences and your reality; thus, your world.


Choose your thoughts and your words wisely. Thoughts and words have power; thoughts and words impact your life. They create your universe.


Words cannot change reality; but they can change how you perceive reality. Words can have life-giving or life-draining power. One destructive word you say to yourself or others can have negative outcomes; yet, encouraging words you say to yourself or others can be a life-giving force.


If you want insight into what your life will be like in the future; be aware of the thoughts you are thinking and the words you are saying today. Every thought, every word contributes to the actions you take and the results you get; thus, what your life becomes.


My challenge to you this week is: slow down, be aware of your thoughts and your words. Before you speak, take a deep breath and choose your words and the response you have to life interactions and situations. These intentional actions will make a significant difference in your life today and every day.

What you give out comes back to you. I believe it is exactly that way with the thoughts we think and the words that we speak. I believe that when we think a thought, speak a word or a sentence, somehow it comes back to you in the form of an experience. You have 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts per day (about 80% of them are negative). Your thoughts speed through your mind very quickly, so at first it can be difficult to shape them.


Today, start to listen to what you say and be aware of all the things you are telling yourself. The way that you talk to yourself inwardly is important because it becomes the basis of your spoken words. Words of blame and negativity will not give you freedom. There is power in your words, and power in taking responsibility for your life. If you want to begin to take responsibility for your life; then, be responsible for your mouth; what you say both inwardly and outwardly. You are the only thinker in your mind. You choose your thoughts, and they are the basis for your self-talk. Your self-talk creates and supports your beliefs which contribute to your actions and the results you achieve.


Are you ready to make a change in this area of your life?


If so, then start today by becoming conscious of what is going on in your life by listening to the words you speak to self and others. Then, begin to make the changes that will start healing yourself, others, and the impact you have on the world around you. Retrain your thinking and speaking into positive patterns so that you can achieve beneficial results. Start by using affirmations; consciously choose sentences or words that will either eliminate something from your life or help create something new in your life. Begin to take this first step and you will experience absolute miracles around you.

Emotions are the “secret hack” to manifesting what we desire. The best way to start making a change in your life is to be happy now. When you feel good, you think good thoughts and you feel motivated to take action.


  • What are things you can do to shift your emotions to feel better?

  • Here are a few ideas:

  • Practice mindfulness and meditation

  • Practice gratitude

  • Look for hidden gifts

  • Play upbeat music, dance, sing

  • Move the emotion through your body - go for a walk, run, bike ride






Think about your mind like the soil in your garden; and the thoughts you are thinking are the seeds you are planting.


Ask yourself:

Is my soil (mind) rich & healthy supporting abundant growth, and are the seeds (thoughts) I am planting more often positive, grateful, and affirmations of limitless belief in myself that enable me to achieve a life of joy, contentment and possibility?


Is  my soil (mind) poor soil, supporting poor growth, and are the seeds (thoughts) I am planting more often negative, complaining, and affirmations of limiting beliefs that stop me from living the life of my dreams?


Know this; the way you choose to think right now is a CHOICE. You may not realize this because you have chosen to think like this for a long time, but really, it is a choice. You have the power right now to shift your thinking; that is what is so beautiful about life. We have so many opportunities each day to adjust our approach/thoughts. If the thoughts you are having, lead to life experiences that do not give you the outcomes you desire, then choose to make a change. It is only a thought, and a thought can be changed!


Shifting your thinking will not impact dramatic changes for you overnight, but if you are consistent and daily make the decision to be aware of your thinking and choose to think thoughts that are more positive and make you feel good, you will begin to see creative solutions for situations that arise, opportunities that you never saw before,  and possibilities that will definitely impact your life for the better. You will begin creating life that is more joyful and abundant.

Today is a new day. Today is a day to begin creating a joyous, fulfilling life. Today is the day to release all of your limiting thoughts and beliefs and begin to change your life for the better. You have the tools within you to do this, (your thoughts & beliefs). Choose to align your thoughts and beliefs to represent who you really are and what you really deserve. You are a miracle! You deserve to live a life of joy and abundance! You can create those things in your life right now!


This is your new mantra:

I Am in The Process of Positive Changes, and I Deserve and Accept the Best Right Now!



What kind of reality are you creating for yourself right now?

Raise your vibration and create a life of joy, love, happiness & peace that aligns with your highest good!


What you focus on and the meaning you give it creates your reality. The stories you tell yourself about situations you encounter impact how you experience them. Have you ever slowed down long enough to uncover the stories you are telling yourself about yourself, your circumstances, your life, others, possibilities, lack, etc.?


Slow down, be present and aware of your stories. Know that no matter what is going on there is always a grander perspective. Be still and elevate yourself to that grander perspective. Stillness is the access point to acceleration in your life.


Do this and you will instantly feel peace and have access to the power within yourself to choose how you want to feel or respond. You will shift the energy of the situation and the energy within yourself. Everything in the Universe is made up of energy. Energy moves quickly and responds to our emotions, and actions and we respond in turn.


Do you want to live a life a purpose, joy, fulfillment? First, believe it is possible; second, create new stories that you tell yourself; and third, raise your energetic vibration. Cultivate new feelings within and they will be reflected in your external world.


Here are some simple ways you can begin right now to raise your vibration!


  1. Recognize Your Abundance – Raise Your Vibration: Before you go to bed each night or when you wake up in the morning, write down 10 things you are most thankful for today.

  2. Be Kind (To Yourself) – Raise Your Vibration: Next time you have a negative thought about yourself, acknowledge it. Name it. Consider where it came from. Ask yourself, “how can I change my inner dialog to be more loving?” Speak to yourself the way you would speak to your best friend.

  3. Turn Your Frown Upside Down – Raise Your Vibration: Happiness is infectious. Smile as much as you can today! Offer the gift of joy to all you meet. Everywhere you go look for simple blessings that surround you. Happiness is available to you anytime you allow it to be.

  4. Daydream – Raise Your Vibration: Set aside 5 minutes each day to go off on a little adventure to somewhere. Turn off your phone and allow your imagination to take you wherever it wants to go 😊!


Know that you are everything you wish to be. You can embody the enlightenment within you. You can be all that you are on this planet to be at this time!




How you start your day is how you live your day; and how you live your day(s) is how you live your life! How you start your day impacts your happiness quotient! Remember, happiness is not out there, it is in you. It is not something that is ready made, it comes from your own actions. The beautiful thing about this is you have a choice; it is in your control!!


Challenge to you this week: Create a morning ritual that sets you up for success. Make it something quick, simple, and meaningful; something that energizes you and kickstarts your day’s journey toward a pathway of peace, possibility, and performance.


Here is a one that I created for myself using the acronym “HAPPI” 😊:

Hydrate: Drinking water replenishes your brain which becomes dehydrated through the night)

Affirmation: I recite aloud positive affirmatives about myself & my day – “thoughts become things”)

Prayer: I recite aloud prayers that are meaningful to me & my connection to Source)

Pump it Up: I get my body moving – stretching and movement to get blood flowing)

Intention: I create an intention for what I want to experience/achieve in the day)


I guarantee you, consciously shaping your day will become a HUGE difference-maker for you in your life. It certainly does not mean that challenges will not knock on your door; but it will shift the way you choose to respond and the outcomes you achieve. You have a choice to live your best life every day; no matter what the circumstances.






I am a fan of America’s Got Talent and this past Tuesday’s show ended with an audition of a woman, named Jane, who when she sings, goes by “Nightbirde”.


Her audition of her original song, “It’s OK”,  and her story have stuck in my head and my heart. She is a woman who is and has been fighting cancer. She has a 2% chance of survival, yet her mindset and heartset is courageous, inspiring, and beautiful. She is AMAZING!


Below are a couple of thoughts she shared when talking to the judges. They are powerful and I want to share them with you,


“It is important that everyone knows that I am so much more than the bad things that have happened to me,”


“You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.”


Her words, her presence, her song was a reminder to me that Life is a GIFT; Happiness is a CHOICE.

If You Want to Win Your Day, Winning the First Moments of Your Day is Critical!


How do you start each day? Do you have a morning ritual that you engage in to set yourself up for success? If you do GREAT; keep it going! Practice makes PROGRESS. If you don’t, take a minute right now to create a simple ritual that puts you in a proactive, powerful mode to create an environment where the best you can show up on a regular basis.


First, you create your habits; then your habits create you.


Making the decision to create this new habit to you train your focus first thing in the morning by DOING FOCUS ACTIVITIES  will increase your ability to concentrate, engage calm and be present no matter what  situation(s) you encounter.


Set yourself up to win your day. Do not make it complex. You WILL make progress by small simple steps; one foot in front of the other. Ask yourself, “what is the one or two things I can do to take action that will help me make progress toward this goal, where I know I cannot fail?


Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing as you design your morning ritual:

  • Do not engage with your phone for the first 30 minutes (or at least 15 minutes). 

  • Drink Water. 

  • Make your bed. 

  • Gratitude. Say aloud/write down 3 things for which you are grateful? 

  • Intention. Write down your intention for the day; what you want to focus on; what you want to accomplish. 

  • Quiet time/meditation. Spend 10 minutes in quiet, breathing, focusing, chanting a mantra for the day. 


Make the decision today to create your simple morning ritual. Start small; because little by little, a little becomes a lot! Show up for yourself every day and you will continue to be amazed at the YOU, you are becoming 😊


Mindset Matters

It is All About Perception: You Can Look Through the Lens of Fear or the Lens of Love.

Through Which Lens Do You Choose to View the World?


We all see our world, every situation, circumstance, and each other through a lens. The lens we choose to view through makes all the difference in our beliefs, experiences, actions, and the outcomes we achieve.


As human beings, we are all invested in our perspective; but, if we choose to open our aperture and view through a lens of love, our world expands, gets bigger and better; and through this process we are transformed. We soon realize that while we are all different and unique, we are also all connected, part of the same whole, beautiful, and part of the same family.


Every single situation, thing and person in our lives may be seen through one of two lenses: the lens of fear or the lens of love. There are always profoundly different ways for you to view the exact same circumstance. Nothing on the outer must shift for you to have a radical shift in perception; you simply must change the lens through which you are looking.


Think of a situation or circumstance in your life. Check in to see from which lens you are viewing the situation; fear or love. As an experiment, write down your thoughts, describing the situation from both perspectives.


First, start from the lens of fear. In all its negative glory, describe the situation through this lens being brutally honest knowing that what is not acknowledged cannot be changed. Read it aloud when you are done. Reading it may provide insight about why you could be feeling hopeless and helpless about the situation.


Next, describe the same situation, and this time do it through a lens of love. In all its positive glory, describe the situation Read it aloud when you done. How does this feel? I am sure it feels  very different, and probably  much better!


The same life, same situation – different lens! Nothing changed on the outside, but everything changed on the inside.


You can literally do this exercise with anything or anyone. The goal is not to deny that you feel sad, scared or are afraid. It is to recognize and honor those feelings, and then make the ongoing choice to realign and see the person, circumstance, or situation through a lens of love.


Your feelings will reflect the story you are telling, and your feelings are one of your best indicators of whether you are looking through a lens of fear or a lens of love. It is freeing to realize that you have the power to change your feelings by changing your perception and seeing the situation from a different lens.


So, the next time you are feeling constricted by a situation, ask yourself: “If I look at this through a lens of love, what would I see?”

Your brain’s priority is to keep you protected and your brain’s stress response is hard-wired; it was created that way to keep you safe. People living in primitive times were surrounded by life and death types of danger and that reaction from the brain kept them alive and well.


Today, we face fewer life and death types of danger, but your brain is still hard-wired to react to stress in the same way. Stress can be triggered by so many things, for example: 1) too much on your to do list, 2) email overload, 3) social media, 4) crowds, 5) competing priorities, 6) frustration, etc.,   


At times, life can feel like an emotional rollercoaster. When we feel overwhelmed and anxious, our brain can be tricked into thinking we are not safe and then we may respond to those situations in ways that are not the most positive for us and those around us.


YOU can break this cycle by remembering to JUST BREATHE. Your breath is always a tool at your disposal. Bringing attention to your breath will give you something to turn to whenever you need to anchor yourself.


Try this simple breathing technique:

Breathe in for a count of 3

Hold your breath for a count of 4

Breathe out slowly for a count of 5


Slowing down your breathing sends signals to your brain that you are safe; you begin to calm down. Now, you can choose a reaction that you feel fits more appropriately with the situation. Make it a habit throughout the day to notice your breath, breathe in and out, and slow down before reacting.

What do you do when you are faced with a challenge?


This week, as most are, will be busy and full of victories and also a few challenges. Remember, it is important to celebrate both your victories and also acknowledge your challenges.  Often times, your greatest growth and victories come from working through challenges and shifting your mindset from,“why is this happening TO me,” to, “why is this happening FOR me”? It is all about your perspective and the path you go down to work through whatever life presents to you.


 As a human, you need other humans. Social connectivity is critical; it is as important as the air you breathe. How each of us fills that need will be very different.


So again I ask you: What do you do when you are faced with a challenge? Do you reach out to others for their support and perspective; or do you try to keep a “stiff upper lip” and go it alone?


Reflect on how you feel when you are able to provide a listening ear, helping hand, or share a bit of wisdom with someone in your life; it feels GREAT doesn’t it? Just as you are energized when you get the opportunity to lift others up, your colleagues, friends and connections also want to be there to do the same for you. Don’t underestimate the wisdom of John Lennon… “We get by with a little help from our friends”.


Keep this in mind as people cross your path each day. Be open to connecting and being there for others; just as others are there for you. Know that you have much to share.

Today and every day, remember that each and every one of us is part of a bigger whole. We do not travel this world alone. We are on this journey of life with all humanity, nature, creatures, every thing and every one around us. We are interconnected.


Think about this - through our human connections, we not only impact and change the person with whom we come in contact, we change ourselves and the world around us. Our daily encounters actually shift and change the world.


It is important that we reach out and foster more human connections each day. Even though we are experiencing a time of social distancing and isolation, we do not need to become isolated and singular. While it may take more creativity than ever before to connect with each other, it is well worth the effort. You need it; the world needs it. “Be The Change You Wish To See In The World”.

Make a commitment to spread love, kindness, positivity and care each day; and from each interaction you have with others, ask yourself, “do I leave people better off than I found them?”


You can and do make a difference moment by moment, day by day; and your actions have endless ripple effects. What kind of a difference maker will you choose to be? 




As you prepare to ring in a New Year; prepare to shift your mindset. Start 2021 with a fresh perspective. Leave those things in 2020 that do not serve you; those things do not belong in your future.


What do I mean by this? Anything that is holding you back; holding you down and contributing to negative beliefs about yourself, your capabilities, your success …KISS THOSE THINGS GOODBYE; not in a bitter way – but releasing them with love so that you will experience a better way.


What am I talking about? Here are some examples - let go of negative self-image, negative thinking and attitudes, relationships, people, experiences, situations that drag you down. Lean into 2021 with new thoughts and new words that will contribute to new experiences. Your VICTORY begins in your mind, in your thoughts, words and in your beliefs about yourself and life which translates into your actions.


Take a moment RIGHT NOW and write down those things that are holding you back from your 2021 vision and a healthy, functional year ahead; next, RELEASE them with LOVE (KISS THEM GOODBYE) for they no longer serve you in your newfound FREEDOM, VICTORY and SUCCESS. Here are some affirmations that will help you KISS THEM GOODBYE; pick one that works for you or create your own:

NOW…write down WHAT YOU WANT TO BE TRUE FOR YOURSELF; WHAT YOU WANT TO BECOME.  What is it that you really want right now, today, in your life? Think about it and then say, “I accept for myself ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­_____________(whatever you want).  Start believing that you deserve all the good that life has to offer.


Here are some affirmations that help you create VICTORY IN YOUR THINKING AND YOUR WORDS. Pick what works for you or create your own:

Today is a new day. You are now in charge. Now is the moment in which you are creating the future of your life and your world. Wake up each morning and experience the joy of spending another day with you.




How did you start your day today? Did you set an intention for the day? Did you think about how you want others to experience you; how you want to “show up”?


Whether you think about it or not; consciously or unconsciously; you are building your reputation and creating your legacy every day. Often, we do not think about it. As you traverse through this world each day, you leave your lasting imprint on those with whom you come into contact. It is important to realize that YOU touch OTHERS’ LIVES each day; anything and everything you touch is your legacy. 


Your legacy is not defined at the end of the road but in the present moment through moments shared, decisions made,  actions taken, and reactions displayed. Create your legacy intentionally through your words and actions. Be a difference maker.

Are you conscious of all the treasures in your life? Are you aware of all the good that happens to you daily? Have you made a commitment to focus on the good stuff?


You see, a central truth of life is that we always find what we look for; so, if we look for things that we appreciate and are grateful for; then, we will begin to see more of those things that cross our paths. As Oprah Winfrey said, “If you start focusing on what you have and what you are grateful for, you will begin to see more.”


The funny thing about gratitude is that when we begin to practice gratitude all of a sudden we start feeling more joy. Gratitude and joy are eternal twins; where there is one there is always the other. 


Remember the feeling you had as a child when you awoke in the morning and smiled? It is time you felt like that again. Try this simple technique and begin to turn up the dial on gratitude and joy in your life.


Grateful Arising:

Pause when you wake up in the morning and rest for a few moments on the edge of your bed:


Repeat this mantra: “I am grateful for the many blessings coming my way.”


Then take time to notice three things you feel grateful for before anything has happened: (parts of your body; the air around you, sounds, dreams, etc.) Simply notice and appreciate three things.


Then, start your day.

When was the last time you reflected on your attitude? Have you done an “attitude check” recently? If your life and your experiences do not reflect what you desire them to be, look inward vs. outward. Taking time to understand how you are thinking, reacting, responding will make a difference in your life, your experiences and how you respond to your circumstances. It will also make a difference in how you are being experienced by those around you.


It is freeing to know that you have a choice. You can make each situation different by choosing your attitude. This change in frame of reference will make your life different. Begin affirming today, “I choose healthy, supportive and nourishing reactions to the experiences and circumstances in my life.” I am convinced that by doing this, you will experience a new, healthy, successful way of being.

It is a “human thing” to strive for meaning and connection in our lives. It is as important as the air we breathe.  In fact, our brain contains a significant region that is solely dedicated to “social” connections. Yet, how often do each of us really see, hear, value, appreciate, connect with each other? I believe, it is something that too often falls by the wayside. Yet, it is important to our happiness, wellbeing, life satisfaction and even our survival.


So often we think “we don’t have time”, but there are 1,440 minutes in each day. What if we decided to take a minute or two each day to connect with someone. It can be as simple as a smile, a helping hand, a kindness. What kind of impact will that have on your psyche? What kind of impact will that have on the person with whom you connect? What kind of impact will that have on the community; the world around us?

Change, growth, and transition are always around you; sometimes subtle and at other times more obvious. Change can be liberating and exciting; but, change can also be difficult, chaotic and nerve-wracking. When you are experiencing change in your life, many times it can be accompanied by a period of transition, or “in-between”, when it feels as though you are in a state of limbo. The in-between tends to be a bit uncomfortable, uncertain, and difficult, but it is a necessary piece to get you from one chapter in life to the next.


Transformations, big and small, are what keeps life interesting. A life void of change would be a very dull one. Embrace it. You are creating new memories, making new friends, growing your mind, body and spirit, and becoming a fuller version of YOU!

As you live your life, you will wear many different hats and need to continually adapt to many different situations. Paying attention to the breath is one way to anchor yourself to the present moment. Checking in on your breath throughout the day enables you to be tuned in to your current mind state. Awareness of your breath and mind state is one way to help you know when to place yourself in “park”, rethink your response or approach, or open your mind to new possibilities.


Using your breathing to nurture mindfulness takes no time at all, only a shift in attention. Just keep returning to the breath when your mind wanders or when you are feeling a little stressed. Great adventures await you when you give yourself a little time to JUST BREATHE!

Every human being is created with the desire to connect. In fact, we have a whole region of our brain that was created just for social. Often, it takes others to share what they see in us to help us realize the talents we have so that we strengthen them and use them to reach our full potential. This can have life changing impact.


We are connected to one another. Being part of the “brotherhood and sisterhood” of humankind we are meant to support one another, lift one another, and provide insight and feedback to each other about the beautiful gifts and talents we possess.


This week, “be on the lookout” and share with those with whom you come in contact the gifts you see in them.  Experience how that makes you feel and see and experience the gift that you give to another just by recognizing their unique strengths. You truly can make the world a better place.

The distractions of modern life pull our attention in a dozen directions; so, becoming distracted and losing track of mindfulness is natural. If you find yourself overwhelmed by distractions, ask yourself, “Where is my mind now?” This can be a very effective way to bring you back into present awareness. Try repeating this phrase when you find your attention bouncing around. Over time, you will start to learn a great deal about where your mind wanders to when left to its own devices.


I hope this mindfulness activity helps you stay in the “here and now” and truly enjoy all the wonderful experiences life has to offer.

How often do you find yourself re-living the past or contemplating the future? It is normal for our minds to wander. Remember, the point of power is always in the present moment; and, the present moment is the only one you have.


Life brings with it both ups and downs; it is part of the human experience. What if you shifted your mindset and looked for the beauty in “being alive”; no matter what you were experiencing, (light or darkness).  If you look for it, there is truly goodness that can be found no matter what “season of life” you are experiencing.

Are you really listening or just waiting to talk? We all go through our daily lives engaging in many conversations with friends, co-workers, and our family members. But most of the time, we don’t listen as well as we could or sometimes should. We’re often distracted by other things.


Trust your intellect, open your mind. Don't prefabricate your responses. Don't try to showcase your wit. Listen and respond in the moment. You'll be surprised how much more you'll learn and how it will impact your conversations.


No matter how awesome you are, you won't be everyone's cup of tea - but no worries. You'll be many people's double espresso.


You should always reserve your time for the people who make you feel like their favorite item on the menu. And don't fret if someone doesn't like you. Besides, there are even people out there who don't like cupcakes!


If you want to be happy, you don't need to surround yourself with lots of friends. You just need to find a few who love you lots.

Being Is Enough

We are not always clear about what we are experiencing, or why.

In the midst of grief, transition, transformation, learning, healing, or discipline - it's difficult to have perspective.

That's because we have not learned the lesson yet. We are in the midst of it. The gift of clarity has not yet arrived.

Our need to control can manifest itself as a need to know exactly what's going on. We cannot always know. Sometimes, we need to let ourselves be and trust that clarity will come later, in retrospect.

If we are confused, that is what we are supposed to be. The confusion is temporary. We shall see. The lesson, the purpose, shall reveal itself - in time, in its own time.

It will all make perfect sense - later.

Today, I will stop straining to know what I don't know, to see what I can't see, to understand what I don't yet understand. I will trust that being is sufficient, and let go of my need to figure things out.

We are three weeks into the New Year and you may have started to think about “shelving” the goals you created. As the stressors of life begin to set in, you may be starting to wonder if you are going to be successful in accomplishing these goals.


My advice to you is “aim for improvement; not perfection”. Instead of abandoning altogether, REVISE. You may now have more insight to adjust your goal and create a concrete plan that makes it more realistic and achievable.

Persevere. Recommit to your goal. If you have veered off track; don’t get down on yourself. Revise, DO NOT Abandon! Pursue your goals with drive, dedication and determination!

How do you get started believing in yourself? Reflect on times in your life where you have been sabotaging yourself; not believing you could achieve your goals, dreams or desires. Think about steps that you need to put in place so that you can get out of your own way. Write them down and begin to implement them in your life. Once you’ve done that, move forward confidently pursuing your dreams and goals! YOU can do it!

A wise teacher once brought balloons to school, told her pupils to blow them up and write their name on one. The kids were given five minutes to find the balloon with their name on it, but though they searched frantically, no one found their own balloon.
Then the teacher told them to take the balloon closest to them and give it to the person whose name was on it. In less than two minutes, everyone was holding their own balloon.
The teacher said to the children, “These balloons are like happiness. We won’t find it when we’re only searching for our own. But if we care about someone else’s happiness…it will ultimately help us find our own.”

Do not be stuck in a state of defeat and only think and talk about where you are now. Speak VICTORY! VISUALIZE where you want to be. Step forward toward your goals and the life you desire to live. Connect your vision and your way forward by creating sensory experiences of the outcome you desire. Truly see, hear and feel the success!

Write your story. Record your story into your phone, as if you have already achieved it. Listen to it every morning.  Notice how things are changing and how you are manifesting a new way of being.


You have  a limited amount of energy to expend every day and you are far better off using your energy to create the life that you desire. Your life will be illuminated and transformed by what you consciously choose each day and how you want to experience, react and respond to each day. 


Keep the faith; move forward with gratitude and new doors and your new life will open to you.


Look forward – the windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror. Why? Because you are moving forward; not backward.

What’s in your cup?


You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you, making you spill your coffee everywhere. Why did you spill the coffee? You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea. The point is whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out. Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which will happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled. So we have to ask ourselves... "What's in my cup?" When life gets tough, what spills out? Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility? Or do reactions of anger, bitterness, or harsh words come out? You choose!


Every day we make choices about how we act and react to the circumstances of our day. How do you want to show up? How do you want people to experience you? Let’s work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation, kindness, gentleness and love for others.

Wouldn’t it be remarkable if you could follow the path of the strong, sturdy, persevering tree and shed what no longer serves you, looking forward, with ease, to the beautiful journey you have ahead? You can do this, but it is easier said than done. Each one of us spends much of our lives forming attachments to people, places, things, connections, emotions, etc. There are times in your life when you may need to make the decision to “let go” of some of these. This action can push you outside of your comfort zone. It can be scary; but it can also be really amazing.  If you do not believe me, just look at how stunning a tree looks while it is in the process of “letting go” of its leaves! Your transformation can be just as beautiful


Make a conscious decision today to shed what drains you, holds you back or does not serve you any longer. “Renew, release, let go. Yesterday’s gone. There’s nothing you can do to bring it back. We all need one another. Often times, you may think that you should “go it alone”. At times, you may also feel that you are burdening others when you reach out; but that is not true. We are all socially connected. We all want to lend a helping hand. Do not deny others the opportunity to assist you and also, do not miss an opportunity to help another. You have many gifts and talents to contribute to others and others have many gifts and talents to contribute to you. Being surrounded with people who help you GROW is what life and living is all about. There is strength in our differences and there is comfort in where we overlap.



 No matter what age you are or what your circumstances might be, you are special, and you have something unique to offer; a listening ear, words of advice, or support with a task, etc. Every little bit counts. These contributions make the world a better place to live for all, and in the end, your life is more meaningful!

So, what is the secret to happiness? Each of us are very unique individuals. What provides happiness for one person will not be the same for another. Each of us is on our very own special journey to discover “happiness” for ourselves. We can ask ourselves, “What makes me feel bright, vibrant and alive?”, “What could today offer that makes me look forward to tomorrow?”, Where do I find my happy?” The answers to these questions are ours individually to discover. The answers are as unique and original as each of us are. The answer you find today may not be the same answer that you will find tomorrow. Happiness is a moment by moment, hour by hour, day by day journey.

How do we begin to create a habit, a practice in our life for self-love and self-appreciation to flourish?


The more you practice self-love, the stronger message you send to yourself that you deserve it. This is a journey that takes dedication and practice. It is not vain or selfish to love yourself and make happiness a priority – it is necessary. You cannot love and appreciate others, if you do not love and appreciate yourself.


A good place to start is to LISTEN TO YOUR INNER VOICE – What is it telling you? Is your very own self talk positive and affirmative or is it negative and critical. Remember – the thoughts we think and the words we speak create our world and our experiences. What we believe about ourselves and our lives comes true for us. So, if we find ourselves thinking and saying things that are negative – then we must CHANGE IT – CONSCIOUSLY WE CAN CHOOSE A NEW THOUGHT. We must TAKE CONTROL OF OUR INNER VOICE.


Self-love is foundational and sets the tone for every other relationship that we have in our lives. Self-love then is not a destination, but a practice that we institute to live a happy, fulfilling life.

There are days when all we can see with our eyes are problems; but when we look at things with our hearts, we will begin to see the miracles all around us. Despite problems and challenges, there is also kindness, generosity, courage, goodness, and possibility; enough to light up the world. In these times, the human spirit is alive and well.

Today, reach out to friends and family and let them know that you love them. Let them know that their hopes, beliefs, and dreams are not just believable, they are achievable! Inspire them to believe that the best is yet to come and that there is light at the end of the tunnel…and that right now we are all called to  be a light for someone else. Let your light shine for all to see, feel and experience!


When was the last time your heart was lifted by a wave of happiness or you felt so delighted by an unexpected little miracle that you could not stop yourself from smiling?

If you want joy to be the story of your years, joy must be the story of your days. Joy must be a daily choice. A promise you make to yourself.


I know things are challenging right now, but right now is the time you need to look for joy in each day. There is beauty , joy and light all around you. If you make room for joy in your heart, you will find that joy is a magnet and it will attract more joy.

Invite a little joy into your life, see how quickly it grows and pass it on to another.


One of the things that gives me joy is the sound of the birds singing in my backyard when they come to hang out at the bird feeders. The forest is a metaphor for life. There are times in our life when we feel lost, unsure, not knowing what our next move is or on which path we should travel; that is ok. Stand still, slow down, pause and reflect. Quieting our mind and being present enables us to listen for the “still small voice”. Doing this allows us to connect with our inner wisdom which can provide us the insight we need to potentially light our path forward. Stand Still. The Forest Knows Where YOU Are. You Must Let It Find You.


We have a choice every day regarding the attitude that we will embrace that day. We cannot change our past; the only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude.

When was the last time you reflected on your attitude? Have you done an “attitude check” recently? If your life and your experiences do not reflect what you desire them to be, look inward vs. outward. Taking time to understand how you are thinking, reacting, responding will make a difference in your life, your experiences and how you respond to your circumstances. It will also make a difference in how you are being experienced by those around you.

How often do you sit still and really listen for and be open to the messages you are receiving? Many times, when we are faced with a challenge or a dilemma, we want to IMMEDIATELY get “BUSY” trying to solve it. We begin to brainstorm solutions and want to put them into practice NOW. It is as though we feel that if we are not “busy”, “active” or “in motion”, we think it will not get resolved.  We want to “check it off” our list!

What if you try “just being” vs. “doing” right away? Let the challenge/dilemma you are faced with just SIT and YOU SIT with it? Be still. Meditate on it. Pray on it. This is one of the hardest things to do. In this age of constant motion and action you may think this is “doing nothing”; but you are doing a HUGE SOMETHING.  When we pause and reflect, we become more in tune with our inner voice, our intuition, that ‘still small voice’ that may be speaking to us. Putting this into practice may provide the insight you need and nudge you in the right direction for a resolution.

This week try this on for size. Be still and “sit” with a problem or a challenge. Even if you are tempted to resolve and “check it off” your list, just BE STILL and  SIT IT OUT.  You will be amazed at the messages you receive when you quiet yourself and are open to your inner voice. You can be sure that your path forward will illuminate!

If you reflect on the words in this quote, they are truly kind of ominous. It affirms that we are important; and that what we do , no matter how small, matters. Think about it. Each thought you have; each word you speak; each action you take,  vibrates in eternity, one way or another.


As you engage in your day, are you conscious of the vibrations you are creating? Are they happy, joyous, welcoming vibrations or are they stress filled and challenging? Be aware. If you like the vibrations you are creating, continue creating them. If you do not like the vibrations you are creating, you have the power to change them.


Remember – you are the composer of the music you create. Make a decision to create beautiful music!

Gratitude makes us feel good because it helps us widen our frame of vision. When we experience a sense of gratitude, we give ourselves a dose of  mental sunshine – suddenly the world seems brighter and we have more options.

The thoughts we think, the words we speak, the inputs/experiences we allow in our environment prime our brain to see the world from either a positive mindset or  a negative mindset. One simple action you can take  to prime your brain to look for the positive in your world is to write down 3 news things each day for which you are grateful. Try this each day for 21 days. This behavior will train your brain to look for “positive” in your world. See what a difference this makes for you, your mindset, your life, and your happiness 😊


Beginnings are wonderful things; they are always full of lots of possibilities. Guess what? YOU get a new beginning EVERY DAY 😊!

Words have power.


Everything begins with a word. Words impact your life. Words create the very reality that surrounds you. Words are the creator of your universe. Remember: the thoughts you think and the words you speak create your experiences and your reality; thus, your world. Therefore, choose your thoughts and your words wisely.


Your tongue has the power to build or destroy. Words can heal or hurt. Words can encourage or destroy. The power you have when you speak is significant. There is a saying, “with great power comes great responsibility”. Your words can be life changing and mountain moving; not only for yourself, but also for others.


Remember, “you catch more bees with honey than with vinegar.” Think about the words you speak today and every day.  Will they inspire?

We are all guilty of thinking about the past or the future, especially when doing everyday tasks (like brushing your teeth or commuting to work). But these can also be great opportunities to practice bringing yourself back to the breath and the here and now. Here are a few tips that can also help you relish the present:


  • Take it one task at a time. Multi-tasking has become the norm, but when you are switching back and forth from one thing to another, you are not giving any of the single tasks your undivided attention. Try breaking each task down and completing it before moving onto the next. 

  • Slow Down. Rushing through life can cause anxiety and stress and take you out of the present moment more easily. Try taking things at a little slower, more relaxed pace, especially when you are starting your day. 

  • Be Aware. Take notice of what you are doing and what you are saying. Be aware when your mind starts to wander. Breathe deeply and bring your focus back to the here and now. Notice your surroundings, your breath, and how you are feeling.


Challenge yourself to practice bringing yourself back to the here and now throughout each day. It is amazing all of the beauty you can discover when you are present.

Most of us have heard this popular quote by Maya Angelou, but often we do not practice it in our daily lives. We live in a busy world of constant distractions. How many of us wake up in the morning, open our eyes, feet hit the ground and we are off and running… minutes, hours, the entire day goes by and we miss the wonder that is scattered about everywhere? We don’t take the time to notice the little moments that take our breath away each day.


We can only live one moment at a time, so we should do our best to truly experience every miraculous moment we are given. “The only way to live is to accept each minute as an unrepeatable miracle; which is exactly what is: a miracle and unrepeatable.” (Storm Jameson)

Self-regulation can help you make a conscious choice about how you think, feel, and the actions you take for the best response. Your emotions do not have to be the “captains of your life”. You can alter your emotions and choose your response. To do this, you need to employ strategies and techniques that work for you so that you can make deliberate choices about how to respond. Here is a quick technique that comes from NYU, called STOPP:


 Slow Down. Do Not Act Immediately

 Take a Deep Breath.

 Observe what I am thinking NOW

 Pull Back. Zoom Out. See the Big Picture

 Practice the skills and techniques that you determine are best for you


Calling upon self-regulation in your daily life will help you deepen your awareness of all your emotions, expand your window of tolerance and help you move toward a conscious choice about your response.


Create an environment of victory. If you look for the positive things in life, you will find them.


What are the messages that you give yourself each day? Are they generated from a fixed mindset;  a place that is born from negativity, limit and lacks power; or, are they generated from a growth mindset; a place that is born from positivity and possibility that inspires and empowers you to create the world you desire?


I am a believer in the power of how our minds, thoughts and words can make us feel; how they can keep us stuck or propel us forward. So, think and say thoughts of abundance, victory, positivity and wellness in every part of your life and it will help you become unstuck and move forward living a life that is fulfilling.

Today, many opportunities will come your way to make a difference. Will you seize those opportunities and reach out to someone? What you choose to do does not have to be complex. A random, simple act of kindness can change someone’s day and even their outlook on life. Even during this time of social distancing, there are many ways to show kindness, generosity, friendliness, and grace to others and be there for them. You can be the difference; the shining light they need right now!


We are what we repeatedly do. Think about what you want to see and experience in your life; then do those things for someone else. Shifting your thoughts and actions outside of yourself and onto others not only creates a positive ripple effect for goodness into this world, but will also increase your joy, happiness and impact your life positively.

There is a great shift going on in our world right now. Just as there is a great shift going on in our “outer world”; you cannot help but be impacted internally.  So, there is a great shift going on in all our inner worlds as well. This inner shift creates your reality.


Do you know what is shifting inwardly for you? Spend time today thinking about how your thoughts and beliefs have shifted during this time. What new insight have you gained about yourself or life in general. What beliefs have been created or shifted?


Each of us will come out of this time changed. Will you come out of this better and stronger than when you entered it? That is possible. What new affirmative belief(s) will you create for yourself about life? Your beliefs impact the thoughts you think, the emotions you feel and the behaviors you display; thus, the outcomes you achieve.


It all begins inside. What healthy paths will you choose to create for yourself as you enter this new normal?

There are so many challenges that we all are facing right now and I know you may be feeling a little weary. It may seem like things will not get better; but, there is a saying, “it is the darkest nights that produce the brightest stars.” Think about the lesson we can learn from the caterpillar. The world is not over. Out of this dark night, we will not only survive, we will thrive.





Hope begins in the dark. Hope lives in each and every one of us. You can be a channel through which hope, kindness and light is funneled; through your thoughts, words and actions. If you just show up and give the gifts with which you have been blessed, the dawn will come. We all have gifts to give, and when we give them with great love, together we can do something wonderful.

Often, the goals we create seem to be standard, practical, or safe. All of us do this; but, there is a high probability that deep down you have some “secret dream” or “desire” in your heart that you do not mention or talk about because you might think, “that is silly” or “that will never happen” or “I won’t be able to achieve that”… and so on. Why do we say this to ourselves? Maybe, we should be a bit bolder.


What if you decided to start constructing your “possibilities” today?


Your dreams will only be impossible if you create that mindset construct. So, create a different construct. Live Large. Dream Big. You will achieve your goals. You will achieve your dreams. Believe in YOU!

It is important to ask yourself “what is it that I need to do for replenishment?” Many times we do not pause, reflect and ask ourselves this question because of all the obligations of day to day life, work, and family responsibility. Often, you may feel that your resources are better expended on others instead of expending them on YOU, but self-care is just as significant; if not more significant. Taking time for yourself is not a selfish act. By taking care of your own needs, it allows you to have the resources to give to your work, activities, relationships, and family.


Take some time to focus on what you need to recharge and make time to do it; YOU are worth it!

In order to have true contentment and lasting joy, you must live in the present. If you become overly reflective of the past or overly concerned about the future, you begin to live in your mind instead of the physical world of today. 


It’s a new year and a new decade, be present to what is actually happening at this minute and your role in the here and now. Thoughts of yesterday or tomorrow will pull you away from creating and experiencing today. Each day you are given the opportunity to learn from the past, but not dwell in it. Do not focus on the past and give it energy to repeat itself in the present. Instead, learn the lessons it has taught you and apply them to today. When you are attentive to today you will have fewer regrets as you move forward. When you are attentive to today, you take control of creating your future.


Today, notice how many times you consciously spend time living in the past or worrying about the future. When you are in that space, “consciously” draw your attention back to the here and now; which is the only place you can create true change.


Keep a healthy relationship with the past and a hopeful heart to the future; but always remember to Live in and Embrace Today!
