Hello Friday: You are the window through which you see the world

You are the window through which you see the world.

How are you seeing and experiencing your world? Does life seem to be moving so fast that you are just reacting moment to moment without deliberate intention and focus? Do your days seem to “whiz by” and you cannot believe where the time has gone? Don’t feel bad. We all can get caught in that trap. But, now is the time to take a moment to separate yourself from the “swirl” and be present for your life. Your life is always speaking to you.  Will you listen?

Your future is shaped by your daily habits. What you repeatedly do – your choices – defines who you become.  Where you place your attention is where your energy goes. Are you focusing your energy where you want to? Life is moving so fast; one thing you can do to ground yourself and focus your energy each day is to create a ritual that you practice when you wake up before you are “off to the races”. In fact, incorporating this practice into your life, might just be the ticket to helping you experience what it is to be fully alive and be here now.

Why don’t you take a minute now to create your morning ritual? Then, practice it each morning when you awake, before your feet hit the ground. It doesn’t have to be complicated. My morning ritual is simple. When my eyes open in the morning, I do the following:

  • Take some deep cleansing breaths to connect to myself and the new day,

  • Say aloud a few prayers of thankfulness for the gift of life,

  • Write three things that I am grateful for in my gratitude journal,

  • Read aloud several affirmations that I created specifically for me and my current life situation, and finally

  • I create an intention by asking myself, “what do I want to create today?”

You see, it doesn’t have to be complicated and it doesn’t have to take an inordinate amount of time. This time I spend each morning makes a significant difference on my daily focus and how I respond to whatever is coming my way.

Try it. I guarantee you that it will make a difference in your day, your reactions and responses, your outlook, and your life. This process will contribute to you creating new life paths and patterns. You will see that changing up your routine will certainly change your outcomes!

Have a great day; have a great weekend.
