GOOD MORNING MONDAY – AFFIRMATIVE THOUGHTS FOR A GREAT WEEK
Good Morning – it is Monday 😊! On August 8, I attended an event, hosted and facilitated by Jodi Livon (The Intuitive Coach), entitled, “The Story of Your Soul”. As you start your week, please etch in your mind one of Jodi’s quotes that was posted in her slideshow; “Seriously…Be Your Own Superhero. Follow Your Heart. Trust Your Gut. Use Your Head; then FLY!!” (Jodi Livon).
You are the author of your life’s story. Too often we get distracted and do not pay attention to what is happening moment to moment. You might not even be aware of the stories you are telling yourself throughout each day. Why is that important? Because the stories you tell yourself do impact your outcomes and your day. Remember, how you live each day is ultimately, how you live your life.
“Too often we get distracted by what is outside of our control. The door to the past has been shut and the key thrown away. You cannot do anything about tomorrow; it is yet to come. However, tomorrow is determined by what you do today. So, make today a masterpiece.” (John Wooden, UCLA’s Hall of Fame Basketball Coach).
What can you do today to live your life to the fullest? A beginning is to become more aware of your thought life. In one of my reflection books, “Good Morning - 365 Positive Ways to Start Your Day”, I found this interesting challenge to try today. Here is how it works:
Every two hours (set your phone alarm), take a five-minute break. Write down how much time (percentage-wise…a rough estimate is fine) you spend:
Thinking, fretting, or regretting the past.
Worrying or thinking about the future.
Worrying about something that is happening today, or something that is outside of your control.
Taking positive, forward action today, or enjoying the moment.
At the end of your day, look at where you spent your time. Why is this important? This little math problem can give you insight into the amount of contentment and happiness you are creating in your life. If you are spending most of your waking hours on the top 3 items, you may not be experiencing much contentment, joy or happiness each day. This exercise can give you the insight you need to make some changes that will enable you to increase your happiness and contentment quotient. This exercise need not be a “one and done”. If there are times in your life when you are feeling, anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, etc., revisit this exercise. When you become aware of where you are spending your time, you can make a concerted effort to direct yourself to “taking positive, forward action”.
You become what you think about all day long. At the end of each day double check your thinking. Ask yourself the question, “where was my thought life today?” Write down your answers. This can give you an “insider look” at where your life is headed. Evaluate and observe your thoughts
Trust in and enjoy today! Live each day to the fullest. Your thoughts represent where your life is going. Today and every day, challenge yourself to write a positive ending to each day of your life.
Have a GREAT day; Have a GREAT week!
