Monday Motivation: Live Your Dream

Good Morning. It is Monday. I hope you had a GREAT weekend. While out to lunch this past weekend with friends, we began sharing thoughts about what we wanted our futures to hold; our goals, dreams, ambitions. During our conversation, we all became aware that at times when we were articulating our dreams, there was, at times, a “BUT…” followed by a reason why “it just wouldn’t work”.

I began to think about how often I and probably many of you reading this often have amazing ideas and aspirations, but we place them on the back-burner because of the endless excuses we create in our minds? Imagine for a moment not worrying about all of the limitations you perceive… then, what would you do?

We all read and hear about endless stories online, in our social media feeds, in books, etc. about people who took the leap to propel their dream forward. These stories create so much buzz. If you think about it, the people who realize their dreams are often someone just like you or me. We do not see ourselves in these stories, but we should! We all have endless possibilities and opportunities that we can achieve if we allow ourselves to believe.

There is not a “one size fits all” plan to accomplish your dreams, but there are some common places we could all start:

  • Decide what your dream is. What would you do if you didn’t have to worry about finances or work obligations? This can be a little scary because sometimes these goals can be outside of your comfort zone or seem larger than life, but they are in your heart and mind for a reason.

  • Break down the path of your dream life into small goals. We have all of the information in the world at our fingertips. Sit down and start looking into what it would take to accomplish your goals and make your dream a reality. Once you have the information, create a plan with the initial steps.

  • Put your new habits to work. Spend time each day working on the steps you have created. Schedule time in your calendar to make your dreams a reality.

  • Ignore negative and self-limiting beliefs. Your mind is a powerful thing. If you tell yourself you can’t do something, you won’t. Ignore the excuses you give yourself to not move forward. Practice writing affirmations to help you visualize the success in your future and in the strides you are taking.

  • Get support. By sharing your goals with positive people in your life, you will be held accountable and have people to lean on when you feel stuck or need to talk. We are not in this life alone and having a support system can help you move forward.

  • Start living each day. We all have so much going on in our busy lives, but it is crucial to do the things you enjoy and truly be in the moment. We will never know when we are living our last day, so it is important to live each day as though we won’t be given another.

You have an unlimited amount of potential. You can do anything that you put your mind to. You are never too old or too young to start living in such a way that sets your soul on fire. I hope you have any amazing week and you start living the life that you have always imagined for yourself!
