Happy Friday! Over the last few weeks, I have posted on topics to prompt you to think about your super powers, your special talents and skills, as well as, urging you to focus on the quality of your thought diet 😊. As I began to reflect more on these topics, a story entitled, “The Elephant Rope” came to mind. Following is the story:
As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.
He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” the trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller, we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”
The man was amazed. These animals could, at any time, break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.
Like the elephants, how many times have you told yourself that you could not do something because you may have struggled with it in the past? Or, have you ever struggled breaking free from an old mindset or a self limiting belief that is not real or valid? Each of us puts limits on ourselves.Examine your thoughts. Ask yourself, “why?” Self-limiting beliefs do not serve you.
Imagine what you could achieve if you pushed the self-doubt and false boundaries away. Break free from old, self-limiting belief patterns and train your brain to engage in a new approach. You owe it to yourself to begin this process today!
Have a GREAT day. Have a GREAT weekend.
