Happy Friday! How was your week? Reflect for a moment on this past week. How many positive things happened for/to you? How many positive emotions did you experience? I am sure that you experienced a multitude of positive emotions this past week; and because life can get so busy, we tend to forget them. Hopefully, taking a moment to reflect on your week from this perspective brings some of them front of mind and you can relive the experience and feeling for a moment. This reflection and recollection surely will put a smile on your face 😊!
Positive emotions are like spices that add flavor to your life in the same way spices add flavor and zest to your meals. Positive emotions will enhance and improve your life. So, how can you begin to infuse more positive emotions into your life? One surefire way to increase good feelings for you is to do something kind for someone else! Consider this quote by Zig Ziglar:
“Life is an echo. What you send out comes back. What you sow, you reap. What you give you get. What you see in others, exists in you.”
At some point today and this weekend, take a 2-minute break and do something kind for someone else. You might not be sure where to start, so here are a few ideas:
• Take 2 minutes to write an email or send a text praising a co-worker or complimenting a friend or family member,
• Strike up a quick casual conversation with someone at the office or in your neighborhood that you don’t normally speak with,
• Open a door for someone,
• If you see someone drop something, help them pick it up,
• Pay for a stranger,
• Stand up for someone.
If none of these resonate with you, choose your own. The point is, these random acts of kindness can take just a couple of minutes and not only make someone else’s day, but also add positivity, “more zest”, to your life. Taking two minutes each day to do something for someone else not only makes a difference in their life but will also impact your happiness more than you can imagine.
We often underestimate the power of kindness, caring and connection and how these have the power to turn lives around. So, today and each day this weekend, take a 2-minute kindness break, and notice how it changes your world 😊!
Have a GREAT day and GREAT weekend!
