Monday Motivation: Find Your Peace

Good Morning. It is Monday. How was your weekend? I hope you celebrated LIFE this past weekend. Were you able to see your life, loved ones and experiences through a “clean window” and realize the miracle and wonder before you? Life is a journey; so, keep striving to do this each day and you will be amazed at how your thinking is transformed and the way your outcomes materialize!

This past week, two quotes kept being presented to me in various ways; so, I took this as a message for me to “go within” and see what lesson I was being “nudged” to learn. Following are both quotes:

“Ego says, once everything falls into place, I will feel peace. Spirit says, find your peace, then everything will fall into place,” (Marianne Williamson),

“Don’t push the river; it flows by itself” (Chinese Proverb).

How many of you, like me, feel as though you are on this endless journey of “searching”; whether it be a personal goal, a professional goal, being connected to others, the meaning of life, etc., and I could go on and on. Often, we exhaust ourselves through our “searching”, and what we are searching for seems to elude us. Yet, we continue to search and search seemingly desperate to be anywhere else but where we are.

I am not saying that the desire to seek, search and grow is wrong, because that is part of your life’s journey and an important part of your “being”, your “soul”. However, if you are “pushing so hard” for the next thing, trying to “make it happen” at all cost, keeping yourself so “busy” and never taking the time to understand and appreciate who you are, where you are, and why you are at this juncture, you will miss a critical part of your life lesson and your journey.

To find your path, you must first find yourself and find your peace. Just as the quote says, find peace and then, your insights, enlightened thoughts and path will illuminate before you. Things will fall into place. Know that what you are seeking is also seeking you. Give yourself the opportunity to find it. Quit pushing so hard. Quit pushing the river. Realize that it does flow itself and when you become quiet, find peace of mind, things that you were blind to before will become clear. Your life lessons, insight and growth will find you.

Peace of mind is something that we all want in our lives; at times we seem to find it and then other times it seems fleeting. Peace of mind is not something that once you find it will stay and you can “check it off your list”. It is something that you must cultivate and it will grow. If you desire to create peace of mind in your life; you must proactively choose this every day.

Decide to “step out of the rushing river” of your life for a moment. Slow down and invite the best parts of yourself into your present moment. How do you do this? Here are a few thoughts:

  • Allow yourself time to just sit, without distractions, without something to do, without multitasking.

  • Use this time to get curious about your mind and experience just as it is. Awaken to what is going on in your mind and in your heart. Nothing to do. No state to achieve. Just “be aware”. Be comfortable being exactly who and where you are right now.

  • Notice the urge to pull out of this experience or change it. Just accept that it is happening and bring yourself back to the comfort of the “now”; disarm your old programming.

  • Breathe. Be aware of each breath coming in and going out.

Try this practice each day for a few minutes. Who does not have a few minutes they can set aside to find peace? Be present with your mind and body just as it is; not fighting it; not needing to get to any other state. Doing this allows you to begin to experience peace and kindness to yourself.

Peace occurs when you choose to lay down your arms and stop fighting your own experiences or trying so hard to create other circumstances (pushing the river). Doing this will help give you presence and clarity to consider what you want to do, what you want to become and what you would like to be about in your life.

Remember the quote: find your peace and everything will fall into place.

Wishing you a peace-filled day and a peace-filled week 😊.
