Am I Living an Authentic Life?
Updated: Aug 23, 2019
Yesterday, I had the pleasure to sit down with Joan Steffend and interview her on what it means to live authentically (which will be uploaded to our site in the next week or so). After reading her book ...and she sparkled and talking to her about her path to joy, I couldn't help but wonder, am I living in a way that I feel the most joy and happiness possible? In a way that makes me feel the most "me"?
When I was listening to her speak, she touched on how often we become the version of ourselves that is most acceptable to our family, friends, and the rest of the world, because that is just how "we are supposed to be". It is simply growing up or maturing. BUT, this does not have to be our path! We can grow and mature and still be 100% true to our self.
I know that over the years, I have allowed the world and the people around me to shape me into the version of Bryn that I think that they would like to see. Though this has brought out the best in me at times, it has also put me in situations where I wish I would have spoken my mind, said no, shared a differing, less popular opinion, let my guard down, been the 100% authentic me.
I have started on the path of self-love, self-compassion, and authenticity, but yesterday Joan re-lit the spark!
I am unapologetically, 100% going to allow myself to be me, say no, be silly, dance, and sparkle! And I invite you to do the same :)
