GOOD MORNING MONDAY – AFFIRMATIVE THOUGHTS FOR A GREAT WEEK
Good Morning. It is Monday once again 😊 Be grateful for another 86,400 seconds! How was your weekend? You were given an extra hour! Do you feel more rested? I hope this past weekend that you were able to do something that made your soul happy 😊
I consistently say and write, “Live the life you want to live. Live your life to the fullest; make it the life of your dreams.” Doing this requires that you spend time reflecting about what that means to YOU. What is your vision for yourself; for your future; for your life? Once you’ve visualized your future, a next step is to create goals and set the plan to get there. Initially, this may bring you much excitement as you begin to create the path forward. You see much opportunity and cannot wait to begin the journey. Then, as you begin to work the plan and think more about it, fears, negative self-talk, and self-limiting beliefs can begin to creep in and start hindering your belief in your dreams, yourself and your ability to achieve them. If you continue down this “self-limiting” pathway, you can begin to rationalize and articulate reasons why you do not chase the future you’ve imagined and convince yourself that you do not have what it takes. What is missing in this picture? BELIEVING IN YOURSELF!
Success for achieving every dream, every vision, every goal has one foundational condition – Believing in Yourself! Believing in yourself is a critical step on the path to success! If you believe you cannot; you will not. If you believe you can; you will! When you believe in yourself, anything is possible 😊
Believing in yourself and your path forward does not mean that there will not be challenges and roadblocks along the way. There are many stories that teach you to never give up. Many people throughout history have faced challenges, were told that they would not achieve their dreams; yet, they continued to have faith in themselves, moved forward and were successful. If they can do it; YOU can do it! Here are a few examples:
JK Rowling was broke and living in poverty for quite some time before she thought of Harry Potter while on a train from Manchester to London.
Abraham Lincoln lost in 8 elections and failed in two businesses; but that did not stop him from becoming the 16th President of the USA.
Colonel Sanders retired at 65 and was receiving pension checks of $105 per month. With potentially nothing left for him ahead; he did have a chicken recipe. He decided to sell his chicken recipe to restaurant owners. 1008 restaurant owners rejected his call, but the 1009th said, “yes”. The rest is history 😊.
Beethoven’s teachers and peers thought his music skills were complete nonsense. His father realized his talent and gave him music classes, but with time Beethoven lost his hearing. It did not stop him from composing his four greatest works; while he was deaf!
Michael Jordan did not make his school basketball team. He went home, closed his door and cried. That did not stop him from becoming one of the greatest sporting icons of all time and the greatest basketball player of all time.
You are the only one who can make things happen for yourself. It takes belief in yourself to turn things around. Develop and hone the attributes that help you become unstoppable. In an Inc. article, Lolly Daskal, President and CEO, Lead from Within, shared some thoughts about “believing in yourself and what that looks like”. Here are some thoughts from that article:
Choose Yourself – respect yourself and treat yourself well. Give yourself what you need and if you are not successful the first time; keep trying,
Embrace the impossible – focus on solutions; not problems and not your limits,
Tenacity - no matter how many starts, stops and obstacles you face – Keep Going!
Trust your inner wisdom – trust in your good judgement; listen to your inner voice and do not be afraid to exercise it,
Be goal driven – Define your purpose; set goals, create a strategy to get there and you will achieve it,
Empower yourself to act – no excuses, no hesitation. When you see an opportunity to move forward – go for it!
Motivation – know what keeps you motivated and devote time and energy each day to whatever that is to stay connected to that motivation,
Keep up the momentum – momentum requires constant action. Continue to take small, constant steps toward your goals. Realize the value in incremental progress, and
Be fully committed – Be unwavering in your dedication to achieve your goals.
Believing in yourself is one of the most powerful choices you can make; and remember – it is a choice! Dedicate yourself to fostering self-belief; set aside time each day to work on it and you will find that you will be more resilient when tough times come. Stand strong. Be safe in the knowledge that no matter what comes your way you will not only survive; you will thrive!
Have a great day and a great week! Take Care.
